Hypnotic Relaxation Techniques: Rhythmic Breathing
The technique of rhythmic breathing can really help to focus the mind and relax a subject deeply. I use this particular technique in the insomnia relief mp3 - Deep, Sound, Peaceful Sleep.
There are different methods to induce someone to begin breathing rhythmically. You can simply ask a subject to count their breaths, making sure that their inbreath and outbreath are of the same length. An example would be five seconds on the inhale and five seconds on the exhale. Another method of getting a client to begin breathing rhythmically, is to ask them to synchronize the flow of their breath with a sound--like the sound of waves lapping on a beach or shoreline. A nice, deep rhythmic breathing pattern can help someone relax deeply.
