Relaxation - Opening up the Subconscious Mind
Relaxation is the key to opening up the subconscious mind and getting that part of our mind focused on creating change.
By becoming quiet and relaxing, the gateway to the subconscious mind is opened. We move into a relaxed, focused state (the alpha state), perfectly primed for reprogramming. The subconscious mind comes to the forefront while the conscious mind, though still present, takes a backseat. The subconscious mind is not as busy as it normally is and can focus on the suggestions given to it. In this relaxed state, we can let go of old belief systems and create new belief systems to take their place. We can change behaviors and habits.
Methods of Relaxing
These days there are a number of methods and techniques to help us relax and access our subconscious mind. We can access the subconscious through hypnotic inductions; through prayer or meditation; through brainwave entrainment; through holotropic breathwork; or through audio and visual mind machines, etc. You can try any of these methods out and decide which method works best for you.
For change to be effective, it must occur at both the conscious and subconscious levels of our mind. While making a decision to change at the conscious level is relatively easy, creating a change at the subconscious level is more difficult. First you have to access the subconscious mind and create the optimal state of mind in which change can occur. You have to be relaxed and focused (using hypnosis or one of the other methods listed above). Then you have to know how to communicate effectively with your subconscious mind in order to get your subconscious to go along with the desired change. The better understanding we have of our subconscious mind, the better opportunity we give ourselves to be effective when it comes to working with our subconscious. Understanding the Functions of the Subconscious is a good place to start.
